HISTORY

Outpost Arts was formed by Edward Barnes in New York City in the fall of 2005. Initially, the focus of the company was producing music for theater and audio/internet ventures, as well as serving as a publishing house for work created under the Outpost umbrella. In 2006 and 2007, various arts residencies took Edward to parts of Central and South America.  During these trips, Edward began collecting CDs and recordings of the music he found, most of which were independently produced and regionally marketed, yet unavailable for sale elsewhere in the world. Recognizing the wealth of musical material and huge pool of talented artists waiting to enter the mainstream digital download world, an idea was born, and Edward began to chart new ground for Outpost Arts.

MISSION

Outpost Arts seeks to help artists from culturally relevant but commercially underserved world regions reach the North American and European digital music markets.  By partnering with leading digital music retailers like iTunes, eMusic, and Rhapsody, Outpost Arts seeks to expand the audience of our represented musicians and drive online commerce towards the sale of their work.
